Wellness isn’t just for “the wealthy.” Sure, it is proven that people that earn higher incomes may have more resources, connections and funds for wellness. It doesn’t mean it needs to be an excuse for why you cannot practice a lifestyle filled with wellness. It is possible.
In this blog post, I am covering five simple ways that you can include wellness into your life that does not cost you a dime!
Walking
It does not cost anything to go for a walk in your neighborhood or find a local walking path. Going for a walk is a great way to clear your head and move your body! Some people like going for walks during their lunchbreaks at work. You can also go for a walk with your dog! Walking is a great simple way to get some exercise and a boost of energy.
Meditating
Meditation works wonders for grounding ourselves. Meditation is a way for us to quiet our minds and focus on our breathing. Sometimes we just really need a mental and physical reset after a busy day. I love how you can squeeze in meditation into your daily routine. You can start small, with just ten minutes. You can find a quiet space at the workplace, parked in your car, spare room at your home, or even attend meditation classes in person. I highly recommend the Insight Timer App. It’s a free app you can download for free on your smartphone or tablet. It gives you access to many types of mediations, affirmations, and music that can help you quiet the mind. You can even pick meditations based on categories for and the length of time you have available to meditate. I’ll include a link to the app at the end of this blog post. 🙂
Take the time for yourself. You deserve it.
Exercising
You can exercise…for free! You could pay for gym memberships, swim clubs, ski passes, etc., but you don’t have to in order to exercise. You can workout in the comfort of your own home for free. You can search exercise videos on YouTube and many other apps (I can feel another blog post about this in the near future 😉.) Some online streaming platforms have exercise videos. You can do exercises with a chair. You can do yoga poses on your rug. Marching in place during commercial breaks of your T.V. show is a great way to move your body.
Resting
Going to bed when you are tired or making sure that you get eight hours of rest each night will not cost you money. You will feel more refreshed and clear with proper rest. Consistently sleeping for eight hours per day is proven to promote heart health and boost your immune system. When you’re sick with a respiratory or stomach bug, rest is necessary for your body to heal and recover. Listen to your body when you feel tired. Try not to push yourself too hard. Your body needs rest. Sure, it may require you to push back an item on your to do-list until tomorrow. Trust me, your body and mood will thank you later.
Listening to Positive Content
Listening to positive content during your day can make a huge impact to your mindset and mood. You can listen to inspirational podcasts, happy music, guided meditations, watch cute pet videos, and more! When we are feeling stressed, watched a discouraging story on the news, or had a something negative occur during the day, sometimes we just need something to reset those negative thoughts. I love listening to upbeat music to lift my spirits. I encourage you to listen or watch something positive each day! It does make a difference!
To close out this post, I will leave you with a poem about the positive effects of listening to music to get you through the day. I encourage you to try some of these free ways to include some wellness into your life! Enjoy!

Music Music keeps me on my feet Gives life a melodic beat It sends messages to my mind When I have music, my eyes are blind To the world we have to face The rhythm fills the empty space It gives me the answers I need when I'm lost Music warms the mind and body from the frost This feeling is priceless and free Such a sensation that lets me be me Music is more than what you hear It gathers your faith through your fear Music plays within me like the beating of my heart Without music, I don't know where to start. -Rael Thymes ©️ 2024
